Weekly Update, 21st July, 2019

" Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”  (Genesis 18:14)

This Sunday 10:30 a.m:  All-age worship.  We continue with our summer series, Heroes of the Bible.  This week, Sarah.

Mondays and Thursdays:  10-12:30 Men’s Shed sessions

Wednesday:  6 p.m.  Evening service with Sasha and Sara Vitakic (our mission partners in Serbia), followed by a buffet meal.  It would be great to invite family members who are non-church members along for the whole evening but, if they prefer not to join us for the service, please ask them along to the social bit afterwards (7:30 p.m.).  This Sunday is the last opportunity to use the sign-up sheet to indicate numbers for catering purposes.

Thursday:  Home group has stopped for a summer break (see below for future plans)

Friday, 8 a.m:  Men’s prayer time in church room

Next Sunday:  10:30 a.m.  All-age worship.  We continue with our summer series, Heroes of the Bible.  This week, David.

6 p.m. Gala Week Songs of Praise service in The Ship garden with Creetown Silver Band

Looking Ahead:

Saturday, 3rd August:  8:15 for 8:30 at No. 1 High Street.  Coffee, croissants and prayer at Number 1!  Following this we will be setting up a display representing a cross-section of what we do as a church and TGB in the community for our Gala Open Day ay Number 1.  This will run most of the day but we expect it to be especially busy between 12 and 2.  Please let Chris know if you can help.

Sundays in July and August (except 28 July):  7 p.m.  Ecumenical services in the unique atmosphere of the “wee kirk” in Kirkandrews by Borgue.  (Chris’ turn, 4th August)

Thursday 5th September:  Home group resumes with a look at some of the teaching from this year’s AOG Conference.  Then, on 10th October, we start a DVD series with Chris Hodges, Fresh Air: Trading stale spiritual obligation for a life-altering, energising, experience-it-everyday relationship with God!  As per recent e-mail and church FB page, it’s worth reading the book of the same title before then if you can get hold of a copy (available as Kindle or hardcopy)
